HoM and GW2 right around the corner
So, i imagine by now most people have at least 30 points, if not more on their Hall of Monuments.
Just wanted to know how long it took you guys to get those 30 points we all want so much.
unfortunaly, I only have 13, and wanted to know if i can actually get the remaining 17 points in those 2 weeks prior to the launch of gw2.

My guess, most veterans took many many hours of play time. Once the HoM was made available to them and they were able to acquire the 4 tapestries, many had 30+ within minutes to hours of entering their HoM.
Unless you have friends giving you stuff for yours, and depending on how much time you can dedicate to the game, count on many hours of game time.

As soon as the HOM calculator came out I had 40 odd points, so I couldn't say, but most of it isn't too time consuming if you know what you're aiming for.
If you first clear all the content normally you can get plenty of "fast" titles. By that I mean there's seemingly no grind since you're playing through content with a nice storyline and unique areas. The titles are Tyrian, Canthan and Elonan protector/guardian, which give a total of 8 titles. I think you need 10 max for HoM? So then you clear all dungeons and spend all your eotn books on one PvE title. You now have two more titles.
Now on your journeys, you'll have gained the items necessary for the weapons to dedicate, and your hero armours, etc.
tl;dr, it depends how long it takes you to do all that and how good you are at planing.

It took me about a month to get from 27 to 50 points, without even playing much. Titles are easy to get and don't require that much time. Weapons can be time consuming, depending if you earn them or buy them. All you need for minis and armor is money so is you have it, that will take you no time at all.

A good way to max out HoM imo, has allways been doing the zaishen missions and vanquishes. It's only two things each day and you can even pug them. If you need to get it done before GW2 tough, your are out of time at this point.

Of those three sentences, I only agree with the last one. While there are some titles that are fairly easy to get, quite a few maxed titles take longer than just about anything else in the game. A fair portion of the achievements that give HoM points don't have to take an extremely long time, though, if you just play through the game's content you'll get several of them. Weapons are usually not that hard to get either, especially destroyer weapons. Oppressor weapons aren't too hard to get, but you'll have to play through a lot of content to get to the point where you can get them, unless you buy from others. Tormented weapons are the hardest to get, but you can also buy them if you have the money.

As far as I know, the HOM doesn't 'freeze' on GW2's launch, so you can add points later.

The HoM is designed to reward people in GW2 for their dedication in GW1. Now is simply too late to start that dedication and expect full results. That doesn't mean however that you should totally forget bout it. With 13/50 in your hall you either missed some very easy non time consuming ones or you didn't do elite area's. So my suggestion is to find a guild that does those elite area's on a regular basis in a casual way.

This. I have 49/50, 6 months playtime. Would do it in 5 months if i invested heavily. Only need consumables for 50/50 GWAMM. If I only wanted 50/50 would get it in 5 monts tops, since i only have to do UW or DoA for the 50/50.
Was a clean start btw and I got no help aside from max 500 points in consumables all around.

It is simply not realistic to say that GWAMM is easily attainable under six months at this point. The sheer currency required to touch the consumable titles/weapon/armor set requirements is extremely high, and with less and less of said consumables available in this market, it's going to get worse. The prices of everything will skyrocket after GW2 releases.
50/50 is somewhat feasible, 50/50 GWAMM is ridiculous.

30 points took maybe a few hours of dedicated work, but that was only possible because I had a lot of money to blow on HoM. If I didn't, I'd estimate it'd take 2 or 3 weeks

Just curious, those that took a few days or weeks, would you break that down into hours spent playing? If you used money, materials, or anything gained from other characters on your account, how many hours (/age) have you played your account?
I still say, unless you get outside help, it will take many hours of dedication, to reach 30/50 in HoM.

I had 40 points as soon as the HoM calculator came out, and actually, I wasn't gonna get the remaining things cause I thought the tiles where a waste of time, but I kinda felt a sort of pressure on that everybody else of my friends wanted to get, and got, the last 10 points. I just felt I had to do it too, glad I did. But it took me many hours of VQing, mapping and buying minis, and doing DoA.

Well, there's 5 monuments.
Armor: This takes money/resources and mild faction
Weapons: This takes money/resources
Minis: This takes money
Pets/Heroes: This takes money or mild farming, outside of the black widow.
Titles: This takes time, which can be shortened in some cases with money (runs)
As a new player, I didn't have the chest full of ectos, so most of the monuments seem difficult to me. For older players, anything involving money/resources wasn't a big deal. It's just finishing up some titles. If you come in with nothing, and you don't get any external help, then it's a slog to even get to 30. Not impossible, but a decent chunk of effort. The titles aspect of HoM is honestly the only part that shows a person's effort into GW. The rest of it is just about money.

That is because a lot of new players have bought ingame money. It makes a lot of sense if you've been watching the market closely, with the mass amount of influx of ectos being traded or sold.

Do zaishen combat quests, get factions, exchange then for zkeys, sell zkeys, get rich in no time.
Quite simple.

I just took a look at the HOM calculator and if you're starting fresh, it'll take a player at least a couple hundred hours to get 30 points. Depending on which statues you've obtained so far, you may be able to get 30 points any where in between a few hours to 100 hours of gameplay time. Along with story books and some Zaishen missions while progressing throgh all campaigns for the titles, you may be able to purchase minis, armors, and weapons without needing to farm for gold too much.
For minis, a cheap rare mini plus 19 white minis will get you 4 points.
For heroes, Imperial Phoenix and 19 easy heroes will get you 7 points.
For titles, linking and beating all campaigns in NM and HM will get you 9 points.
For armors, Kurzick/Luxon, Vabbian, and 3 easy armors gives you 6 points.
For weapons, a combination of 5 Oppressor and Destroyer weapons will get you 4 points.

I've been trying to google this question with no results, but does anyone know:
If I display a mini in my HoM and then sell that mini to a player, will my mini disappear in my HoM?
